More Classroom News from Guest Blogger Gabrielle!

One of our classroom jobs is to write for the blog from time to time.  Enjoy this little update written by Gabrielle!

In the past week we have been working on rocks and minerals.  The 3 main types, Metamorphic, Sedimentary, and Igneous.  Asa showed us how the rocks change, using Starburst candies.  You should check out those videos below and you could maybe try one! (with parent supervision)

We ended the unit of geometry and started learning multiplication and division.  We made a multiplication chart to put little square papers on that match the numbers.  The papers have arrays on them that match the numbers, with a multiplication number sentence on them.

In the classroom we have been working on expository writing.  Expository writing is when someone writes something that gives someone information.  I am writing about Hawaii!  All of the activities, the state capitol, food, plants, and animals and islands of Hawaii.

Our read aloud is the biography of Martin Luther King, Jr.  We just finished it yesterday.  I'm now reading Heart of a Shepard by Roseanne Parry.

At the Winter Concert, most of the class was really happy on stage.  To me it was exciting and fun.  But also the lights were real bright.  It felt like we were in front of 1,000 people!

The End
